  Try the cauliflower pizza. Best toppings are broccoli rabe and mushroom. It's so thin and easy to enjoy by yourself or a friend

  I came to Il Mattone's location in the West Village for a "Crave" app offer which allowed me to have two free cheese slices. I was genuinely excited to try this spot out because I've heard good things about it for a few months and couldn't believe the coincidence that they were participating in this promotional.
  
  I visited their location on a Wednesday around 12:30 in the afternoon. The space itself is small but they do have seating! It's a typical pizzeria in the West Village but it surprisingly has a ton of options for reasonable prices. The staff was fast in preparing the slices in their oven and were able to take my order and get it to me all in about 5 minutes.
  
  I was able to find seating within the restaurant and enjoyed my slices near their large table closest to the window. I'd recommend coming here when it's not the lunch rush. You'll be able to sit comfortably and enjoy the space, which has a lot of natural lighting. Overall a great pizzeria with guaranteed delicious slices.

  We tried again.
  
  The nutella calzone is crazy delicious (and the reason we'll likely try this place at least one more time again). And we just can't forget Lester's fantastic 'mom & pop shop' old greenwich village style attitude and customer communication.
  
  We sooo want II Mattone to succeed, and really want to be able to enjoy their pizza.
  
  This time the pizza arrived room temperature, and without the extra cheese we'd asked and paid for. The sauce was actually watery and it just sort of sat there in little watery pools making the pizza soggy in the places where there was not cheese.
  
  It's frustrating. Their pizza flavors are spot on, but the textures, composition, and temperature were really off. At least the cheese (even though it wasn't the "extra cheese" we'd ordered) was at least on the top of the pizza this time and not in the corners of the box. I'm not sure if this is progress, or just trading one problem for others.
  
  Perhaps the third time will be the charm.

  I love my vodka sauce pies and I'm so happy I found another great spot!! They are the king of creamy vodka sauce. It is soo yummy and full of flavor. The bred is nothing special but it's crispy at the end just how I like it.
  
  Personal size is extremely filling as well!

  Great service. Great food. What more could you ask for? Love this place. Nyc needs more clean friendly pizza places. Fresh food with a smile. Family vibe, simple, fast and easy.
